Winnipeg Trails Association

Winnipeg Trails Association (WTA) is a non-profit organization that plays a critical and comprehensive role in the development of a modern, sustainable city through the primary lens of active transportation.

For the Healthy Neighbourhoods Data Challenge (HNDC), WTA developed CounterPoint – a free open data and crowdsourced app that counts and analyzes all forms of traffic, with the goals of making transportation safer, and foster increased walking and cycling. With CounterPoint, any individual with a phone can gather evidence on elements of Active Transportation and Walkability on a block by block level, and compare it to somewhere else on the planet.
