Winner
The Social Health Lab at the University of British Columbia conducts research to understand and improve social connectedness, well-being, and physical and mental health.
For the Healthy Behaviour Data Challenge (HBDC), the Social Health Lab created a smartphone app which could predict important sleep parameters solely from natural phone use. This app was validated against objectively assessed indicators of sleep quality, and represents a new approach to sleep measurement that can support long-term, large-scale public health research.
